Goodman Theatre's "The Nacirema Society" Extended to October 22

​​There are a few more days to witness the stellar performance of The Nacirema Society. This production closes out the #PearlCleageFestival with an extended run at the Goodman Theatre until October 22, 2023.

Set during the Civil Rights Movement in Birmingham, Alabama, the story follows a Black family with a history of wealth and superiority within the community. The Nacirema Society’s grand dame, Grace Dunbar, has groomed her granddaughter, Gracie, for perfection as she prepares for her introduction to the world of African-American elites at the society’s centennial debutante ball. An unexpected romance develops as sordid secrets threaten to ruin the Dunbar family’s seemingly untarnished reputation.

The show will have you nearly falling out of your seat or holding on to its edge at any given moment. With nonstop, over-the-top antics, you will laugh hysterically, hold your breath with anticipation, and clutch your pearls in utter disbelief.
