 Celebrities and others came together at CSO Sports Multiplex in Chicago’s Hyde Park neighborhood to support the Legends Leaving Legacies Foundation. Founded three years ago by NBA legend Cliff Levingston and his wife, Valerie, the organization was formed to help high school students achieve the dream of higher education. Guests enjoyed a variety of visually appealing, taste bud pleasing food selections, gourmet popcorn samples, and pastries while interacting with celebrities. The atmosphere was lively, and guests enjoyed an incredible experience. The DJ’s kept the party jumping throughout the night with a diverse mix of music, including house, reggaeton, R&B, and hip-hop. Line dancing, which always seems to be a crowd favorite, prompted guests to stop what they were doing, jump out of their seats, and get on the dance floor. TJ’s Review Band provided live entertainment in between DJ’s. An impressive display of ice sculptures, pictures, and other decorations extended from one end of the room to the other, with each table representing a professional sports league. At the very left end, there was a heartfelt tribute to Kobe Bryant, former member of the LA Lakers who lost his life in a plane crash last month along with his daughter, Gianna, and eight others. The display sectioned off the VIP area, which was beautifully decorated by Cort Event Furnishings. Lady Red, a radio personality from 106.3 FM Chicago, acknowledged the legends who were present. They included Kenny Battle (Pistons), Bill Campbell (MLB), Rich Nye (Cubs), Mike Wilson (Cowboys), Tim Terrell (NFL), Mike Ingram (NBA), Bill Wennington (Bulls), Montell Griffin (WBC), and basketball analyst Kendall Gill.
Lisa E., a radio producer from 106.3 FM Chicago, introduced Isaidit the Poet, Celebrity Interviewer from Chicago Bridge Magazine who presented Levingston with an Extraordinary Appreciation Award for his philanthropy to education. He will also appear on the magazine’s front cover during Black History Month. Levingston’s wife, Valerie, acknowledged the vendors who helped make the event a success. Coming from Northwest Indiana were Patrick’s Grille, Lo’ Shell’s Cajun and Creole Flavors, and Nella's Sushi. Chicago vendors included Jamrock BBQ Jerk, Bronzeville Watch Co., and Truth Italian Restaurant. Also, H.A.P.P.Y. Popcorn came in from New Buffalo, Michigan. Proceeds from the event will help fund college tours or connect high school students with other institutions of higher education.
